Jack Storey 67 and Guy Martinson 28 and then Guy took 6 for 11 in 7 overs and Bunny took 3 for 10 with ten balls remaining in a game reduced to 40 overs. Seconds beat Driffield Thirds by 7 wickets with skipper John Hyde having a great game with 3 for 31 and 52no while Knowlesy hit 37no in his first match of the season and we are joint top of Division Four along with Huby.
Under 11s v Patrington home Sunday May 13. A Thompson ( capt) J Sharpe ( w/k) L Riley J Vahey J Jones D Hirst D Couch A Cassim H Anderson G Crooks T Kilvert E Vickers. Steve Bunn changed venue for this game after our groundsman Mark Thompson called the game off early Saturday morning because of a waterlogged square.Well done to everyone who made the 20 mile journey out to Patrington at short notice and we came away with a 14 run win. Good batting from captain Alex Thompson and Will Sharpe in our total of 91-5 and then there were two wickets each for Gareth Crooks and Jacob Vahey and one for Tom Kilvert as we kept Patrington to 77-5.
Under 15s v Driffield home Monday May 14.G Rawlins H Sweeting T Longbone J Leeman J Salt E Dixie W Vize L Shipp T Elstone W Reid L Bulger. A very young side because of revision for important school exams meant most regulars were not available this week or next week and we lost by 50 runs to a strong Driffield side who were very sporting throughout, led by their captain George Drury and Bunny has sent his thanks onto the Driffield club where we have had a good relationship over many years and George has continued this with his encouragement of our younger players who wil have learnt a lot from this game. Good performances though from Lewis Shipp ( 16), George Rawlins ( 14 and 3 wickets) and Thomas Elstone ( 12 runs and 2 wickets).
Under 13A v South Holderness home Tuesday May 15 L Shipp A Weatherill J Weatherill B Thompson A Palmer M Litten J Ramshaw T Wilson S Read A Elliott L Caplin. South Holderness turned up shothanded and were bowled out for 68 with only H Green reaching double figures with 13. Lewis Shipp and Sam Read took 2 wickets each and the others were shared between Miles Litten,Tom Wilson,Ben Thompson and Adam Palmer. We knocked off the runs in 11 overs for the loss of Jordan Weatherill and Ben Thompson with good batting from Alfie Weatherill, Tom Wilson, Jonathan Ramshaw and Adam Palmer. In a sporting game we lent SH substitute fielders and they kindly let us bat on for our 20 overs.
Under 13B v Driffield away Wednesday May 16 L Caplin A Weatherill J Elliott J Weatherill D Hall S Turner C Bakle C Rawlins C Prior J Bond M Jackson. We suffered another heavy defeat by a Driffield side, losing this one by 9 wickets. We scored 65-9 with Charlie Rawlins 18no and Driff knocked these off in 12 overs.
Because of unavailablities due to revision for important school exams, we cannot raise teams at Walkington ( U15) and Driffield ( U13) next week and have reluctantly had to concede both cup games.
